These beautiful encaustic rubbings
are handmade from the artist's handcarved "Mural Study" of the Promise Land Tree
They are created on Korean Kozo paper made from the bark of the Mulberry tree, an extremely arduous hand made paper known to last over 800 years so far.
The paper is then hand stretched over the "STUDY".
Before it is completely dry, it is hand pressed into the proud carved tree.
Once it is completely dried, it is hand rubbed with encaustic waxes.
Encaustic wax painting has been in existence for over 3000 years first started by the Egyptians for mummy portrait paintings, and have not shown deterioration even today..
Once finished, the encaustic waxes are then burnished into the paper (Korean Kozo or Hanji paper) by hand for a permanent fix. You cannot rub the wax off the acid free and extremely durable paper.
These rubbings once museum quality matted and framed, will last for many generations, and if you decide to have them personalized with you, your children or a recipients name, they will be handed down creating lasting conversation in any room for the next seven generations and beyond.
The personalized name will have erased the carbon footprint of two people from this planet, namely the recipients. They are one of a kind, made one at a time, no two exactly alike even in the same color.
