Promised Land Oak Tree Rubbing 2003 1/4 artist - Jamie Lee Glime Santaniello
Graphite stick on tissue 49”W x 33”H
Signed w/notes at bottom
1/4
One exceptional “Rubbing" was made from Oprah’s finished carved oak tree mural just before it was crated
and hand-delivered to Oprah's Montecito home in 2003. It was the 'best of the' 4 rubbings the artist made,
because of the graphite stick medium she used which beautifully captured the immense detail of the tree.
(The other 3 rubbings were made with soft pastels and graphite stick; were soft and colorful but not as detailed.
The carved stone mural made for Oprah is a rendition of a beloved centuries old+ oak tree living close to her
main home on her estate, Promised Land. It is her favorite oak tree on the property, as was told by Oprah herself
to the artists when they hand-delivered her mural to her home on that special day back in 2003.
The mural piece remained in her kitchen for one decade, from 2003 to 2013, before it's remodel,
as seen in all the online photos and magazine articles. See photos below
