Mission San Juan Capistrano Mission Mural Study is 28" x 28" x 1/2" thick mounted on 3/4" thick finished wood.

The artist has been winning National Awards since the age of 15 and International Awards since the age of 30 in the "fine arts" for her ability to draw, paint and use of color. This is a long term investment should you be the one to purchase this painting.

The artist is only selling a few notable paintings on hand made ceramic tile, and no original paintings on canvas, or paper or in other painting mediums, other than the original "made to order" encaustic rubbings on Korean Kozo paper, in "store".

This painting has been part of her personal collection since 1992.

This fine art tile painting is signed by the artist.

The study was created prior for the large commissioned mural. It first served as a "color test" of the custom made under-glaze majolica colors and how they held up during the high fire of the top gloss glaze. Afterwords the artist used this study as her primary guide in perfecting and achieving the soft muted colors in a antique mission palette. You can see from the photos the hand made process of both the clay and the paints. The center tile shows a fracture in the glaze, and this was done in the kiln, does not affect the integrity of the painting or the cemented and mounted hand made tile. To the artist the fracture represents the inevitable earthquake in 1804 that destroyed the bell tower. High fire ceramics have inevitable characteristics that give character to the artwork, and occurs in the kiln at temperatures above 1800 degrees.

The painting is extremely durable, will never fade or discolor even in direct sunlight, and cannot scratch. It is a masterpiece and will last forever.

The painting has an oak leaf border as a symbolic accent because the acorns from the LIVE OAK TREE was a staple food for the Juaneno Indians.

For less expensive unsigned murals go to CERAMIC TILE & STONE VESTIGES in "store".

The purchase of this piece of art plants 1000 trees in the new owners name or their recipients name where they are needed the most through onetreeplanted.org
